The Virtue of the Person Whose 2 or 3 Children Die

[15] And with the same chain of narration that the Messenger of Allah (Sallalahu Alayhi Was-Sallam) said, “No Muslim who has three children who die, will be touched by the Fire except to fulfill Allah’s oath.”

Ibn Shihab az-Zuhri clarified hearing (this hadith from Sa’id Ibn Musayab) in Humaydi (with my verification: (no.1026) and the manuscript of A’dhami: (no.1020))

Al-Muwatta (Yahya’s narration (1/235 hadith no.557, book 16, chapter 13, hadith no.38) at-Tamhid (6/346) and al-Istidhkar (no.511)

Transmitted by Bukhari (no.6656) and Muslim (no.2632) from the hadith of Malik.

[UNDERSTANDING FROM THE HADITH]
1) A huge reward is given from the mercy and nobility of Allah the most High because of the patience a Muslim endures.

2) Muslim children (who have not reached the age of puberty) are in Jannah.

3) A companion’s (RadhiAllahu Anhu) child died so the Prophet (Sallalahu Alayhi Was-Sallam) said to him: “Will it not make you happy to know that you will not come to any of the gates of Paradise but you will find him there, trying to open it for you?” (Musnad Ali Ibn al-Jad: (no.1075), and its chain is [Sahih] authentic, Musnad Ahmad (3/436), (5/34,35), Sunan an-Nasa’i (4/22) hadith (no.1871), (4/118) hadith (no.2090)

It is known (from this), the parents who have patience on their child’s death will have them open the door of Jannah for them on the day of judgement.

4) “Except to fulfil Allah’s oath” is an indication to the Qur’anic ayah, “And there is none of you except he will come to it.” [Surah Maryam ayah:71]. (Fath ul-Bari (11/661) hadith (no.6656), published by Dar us-Salam). For more details please refer back to the Tafsir of the mentioned ayah and the books of Tafsir.
