It Is Necessary To Keep A Sequence (Order) In Hajj

[143] From Malik from Jafar ibn Muhammad Ibn Ali from his father that Jabir ibn Abdullah (Radi Allahu Anhu) said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah (Sallalahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) say as he left the Masjid, intending to go to Safa, ‘We begin with that with which Allah began,’

[UNDERSTANDING FROM THE HADITH]
1) It is possible that ‘waw’ is not used to denote a sequence however where it is established that there is a sequence or structure in the actions or sayings of the noble Prophet (Sallalahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) then at that point (following that) sequence is necessary. For example if someone starts the Sa’i at Marwa then his Sa’i will be invalid and he will have to repeat his Sa’i correctly.

2) If someone performs ablution backwards (i.e. washes the feet first then head etc.) then his ablution is invalid because this way of performing an ablution has not been established from the Messenger of Allah (Sallalahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) or the companions (Radi Allahu Anhum) therefore he must perform the ablution again properly (According to the sunnah). If he performs salah with a backwards ablution then he has to make up that salah (after performing the correct ablution). Also see hadith no.144 and no.146

3) The sequences or structures (of Islamic acts of worship) mentioned in the Quran and Sunnah are not devoid of wisdom. One should take them into consideration.
