[GRADING AND REFERENCES] – [SAHIH]
This narration is from the chain of Dawud Ibn Rushaid and Imam Bukhari (no.6715) and Imam Muslim (no.1509, Darusalam numbering no.3796) have narrated it from the chain of Dawud Ibn Rushaid also. [UNDERSTANDING FROM THE HADITH]
1. There used to be slave trading 1400 years ago. Islam encouraged Muslims to do certain tasks which became the means for a great amount of slaves to become free.
2. There is a great amount of reward to free slaves. Remember that to turn an independent person into a slave is a big sin and this type of person will be an enemy of Allah on the day of judgement. (See Sahih Bukhari no.2227, no.2270 and its chain is [Hasan Li Dhatihi] Good in itself)
3. See Hadith no.8 for the biography of the narrator.
